Mel's Bio:
Born on the 16th May 1977 in New Plymouth, New Zealand, Melanie Lynskey was discovered by Frances Walsh, the wife of NZ's most successful director Peter Jackson, and was suddenly thrust into the spotlight when she was chosen for the lead role in Peter Jackson's first mainstream movie "Heavenly Creatures". However, in spite of critical praise for her performance, Lynskey did not get any offers of acting work for another three years, apart from a tiny, non-speaking part in "The Frighteners", which was little more than work designated for an extra. She finally got cast in a Hollywood movie in 1998 when Lynskey was chosen to play Jacqueline De Ghent in 'Ever After'. Since then, her career, although stronger than it had been, has mostly consisted of supporting roles and she is still in need of a major breakthrough role in Hollywood to get her onto the A-List of new stars. She recently got married to New York-born actor Jimmi Simpson in New Zealand.
