The whole point of this was to get ideas anyway, not just a complete “Oh no it’s a bad idea” reply. If people prefer to do it with e-mail addresses, that’d work just as well, and would help the younger generation to join in the fun.

I am all up for that, so please if you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them. I got a couple of weeks to get this planned.

If I get good praise for THIS idea, I’ll lay on proper details shortly.

Also due to the fact of the content gonna be sent, I don’t mind some light hearted fun or jokes, but if anything is too offensive I’ll be stepping in and saying so. That said, I know a LOT of the members have common sense so I hope it doesn’t come to that, but somebody has to keep the peace even in a fun thing.

Oh and nobody is allowed to send John his Possum song as a joke. XD

Good point, Loner. However, you'd essentially be accusing our fellows of being too naive or irresponsible to make the decision themselves. If they want to go for it, they can, I've been fairly liberal with my address since age 16 or so, with people I trusted. But that said, I do think E-mail addresses and cyber presents would be the best way, sheerly because it's far easier to do and sending things through the post this time of year takes notoriously long.

Maybe a brief guide to the sorts of presents we could expect would help, so that anybody going all-out and composing a beautiful panoramic of someone's online persona doesn't get gipped when they get a light-hearted JPEG taken from a Google search in return.

Pictures, short stories, poems, that sort of thing?

Well we could do it that way too, e-mail addresses would be the same... HOWEVER people will know who it is through an e-mail address, unless I send everyone their online ‘presents’ through this address, as everybody knows me anyway :)

I wouldn't suggest doing this at all I mean alot of the people here are under eighteen I think, not a hundred percent on that one since I don't come around any more. Any way I would stray away from this idea because you never know who is out there you really shouldn't be sending information too someone you don't know thats just stupidity in my point of view...if you want to do a secert Santa i'd suggest it be with pictures and such from e-mail or some other way, but not by giving out addresses.

A good idea! What sort of presents though? I'm assuming not physical, real world presents due to the globally dispersed nature of the members, so would it be artwork? Some kind of cyber present? We've never had a secret Santa before, I think it'd be class.

I have had a bit of a brainwave.

A Secret Santa for 2009!

For those that don't know what a Secret Santa is, I'll explain how it would
work in this situation.

Those that would like to participate would send their names and addresses to
me... (Due to data protection, I WILL destroy all addresses securely after
this is done, and I suggest everyone else does too to avoid any
complications.) Then what I do is I give each participant ANOTHER person's
name and address, and they have to secretly get them a present for
Christmas, but put that it was from Santa, and NOT from you!

So kinda like anonymous valentines, but without the sick love stuff (No
offence to all those couples out there in the league XD.)

If you think it's a good idea though, I'll need to make this quick because I
would ideally like to send addresses on the 1st December.

If people think it's a bit of short notice, would this be a good idea for
Christmas 2010?

Just a thought I had. Let me know your views.

Hey guys.

I have had a few talks with the webhost provider and we have come to the
decision that we are going to shut down the site... permanently.

I am sorry if this comes to an inconvenience to folks, but I was looking at site
traffic two months ago and, to be honest, we were paying for something that was
never used.

The Java client was the only thing used, and I will happily relocate the client
to more permanent space if people still need access to the channel.

Again sorry for the inconvenience...

Hiya people!

Just a heads up that I will be doing a TBL Radio The Revival episode on Saturday
at 9PM GMT until Midnight. I am also going to do a themed show. The theme is 'A
Celebration Of The King Of Pop'.

This episode will play the work of the late (and great in a lot of people's
eyes) Michael Jackson. We will also have different discussions in show, now I
know that the USTREAM chat works.

Just so people know, I have had a LOT of interest of listeners outside The Balto
League, so I think I am going to start opening up the listener base. If you know
any friends that would listen along, get them to listen in, just remember to
tell them to make themselves known.

Just so you remember - the link is as follows

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/tbl-radio---the-revival

and the password is tblradio .

See ya there!

Hiya!

I know I keep spamming but this is the final e-mail about this you will get.

After preliminary testing, I think it's safe to say ustream is the best way to
do live radio.

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/tbl-radio---the-revival - that will be the link
you need when I start broadcasting.

I am going to do a show from 10PM to 1AM tonight (GMT, or whatever time UK is at
at the moment XD). See how we last on my minimal amount of music. However if you
got requests, the good news is I can play songs from Youtube or download them
straight away, so if you got requests, they CAN be done. :)

So hope you enjoy tonight and I hope to get at least SOMEBODY listening XD

Thanks all!

Right, I have set up the Ustream...

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/tbl-radio---the-revival

It should ask you for a password on the way in, the password is 'tblradio'
without the quotes. This is just so we don't get undesirables in.

There is also a chat on the right hand side. If you put in your usual TBL name,
you can also request songs that way!

Clever eh?

Hope this works!

Hiya guys!

Just a passing thought that I had.

I could do TBL Radio Live on ustream instead of messing about using SHOUTcast
and getting people to get media players. That way everyone can listen on with a
browser, and I think 56K people can still listen along.

Tomorrow night (Saturday 05th September), I am gonna run a trial couple of hours
with it, see how we go. If you wanna listen, it is totally your call but it'd
help see how this works!

Thanks people! Let me know your feedback.

Did you know that Idaho officials plan to sell an estimated 70,000 permits to
hunt and kill wolves in the Gem State? That's 70 wolf-killing permits for each
of the 1,000 wolves estimated to live in Idaho. Talk about overkill!

Sounds awful, right? Fortunately, there's something we can do to help.

Ashley Judd and Defenders of Wildlife have just released a new video to
encourage folks to help stop Idaho's deadly wolf hunts. Please take a moment to
watch it online at:

http://www.defenders.org/savewolves

Once you've seen the video, I hope you'll do what I did and send President Obama
a message urging him to restore Endangered Species Act protections for wolves in
Idaho and Montana.

It wasn't so long ago that wolves were rescued from extinction in the northern
Rockies. But that amazing accomplishment is now threatened by the reckless
actions of officials in Idaho.

Under Idaho's wolf plan, more than 500 wolves could be killed over the next two
years. But the true results of the state's plans may be even worse.

Idaho's legislature has said it wants to remove all wolves from the state by
whatever means necessary, and Governor Butch Otter literally howled with delight
when President Obama's Interior Secretary Ken Salazar eliminated Endangered
Species Act protections for wolves earlier this year. Governor Otter has even
promised to hunt wolves himself.

Unless we stop the hunt, hundreds of wolves could be killed, with orphaned wolf
pups -- unable to hunt for themselves -- left to starve to death during the
brutal winter months.

If you care about animals like I do, I hope you'll take just a few moments out
of your day to watch the video and send the president a message online at:

http://www.defenders.org/savewolves

Thanks for helping me speak out for America's wildlife!

Hiya people!

Just a heads up that on Monday 17th August, I will be releasing another TBL
Radio The Revival episode. This one is going to be hosted by myself, DJ
Mikepaws, and for this episode (we hope), we are going to have a special guest
DJ, who is also a REAL DJ, doing a twenty minute music set just for you. The DJ
in question is called Jasper Foxx, and if all goes well, we will have this
special set.

If Jasper is too tired, as he has a lot on this weekend (I know because I am
visiting him and Mike), then the episode will be released without the set.

I am going to do a variety of songs, as the mix will be mostly dance. I know I
am mostly the 'dance' DJ of The Balto League, but I ought to balance this out.

As I type this too, I am on a train speeding to them, yay for Mobile Broadband
on a train... XD (Random fact of information).

Peace out all and enjoy your weekend!

Well to update it you have to upload the new edition on your server or if you
have a old type installed once installed and at the Administrative Control Panel
go to SYSTEM and it should say your version of phpBB3 is not up to date and it
will say

     * Go to the phpBB.com downloads page and download the "Automatic Update
Package" archive.

     * Unpack the archive.

     * Upload the complete uncompressed install folder to your phpBB root
directory (where your config.php file is).

Once uploaded your board will be offline for normal users due to the install
directory you uploaded now present.

Now start the update process by pointing your browser to the install folder.

You will then be guided through the update process. You will be notified once
the update is complete.

and it's updated

Also if you let me make the board I wouln't want to run it or be an admin It's
all yours. I would like just a little thank you message somewhere on Fourm. If
you set up your board again let me have a view of it and I'll make you one and
one more thing I can give you some tips on the fourm and If you need a Mod for
the fourm once you set it up I can help you out

All in all though it is a shame on it, just I do ask, I have deleted the post in question and I am going to sort it out, so can this now be dropped from any more drama? I have learned my lesson. Thing is, it is a shame 'cos internally it wasn't happening either. I do thank those that did register in the end.

Goten,

Your words are significant for two reasons. One, it is representative of the
exact kind of behaviour you are supposed to be guarding against in the chats,
and as such for you to use it yourself is an atrocity of justice and simply just
isn't fair. Secondly, I must remind you that you are representing The Balto
League. To be so profane is in direct opposition of what we're about and will
not be tolerated any further.

Having said that, you have apologized and I accept that. It is sad that we have
to be so on guard these days of unacceptable ID's, language and mis-use of
services; I can understand the frustration you felt. But there is a time and a
place of expressing that and it is not here. Not like this. I am sorry, too,
that the message board was shut down before it ever had the chance to blossom.
It had so much potential, it's a shame.

All the best,
