No I just meant no one is replying in the club (except for you and
"Gabrielle").  Sorry for the confusion.  :)

"Lord of Illusions" is also a good Clive Barker movie...

You mean you are writing??? I have not gotten any and resent one for the
address. Meat train is out on DVD. It even had Brooke Shields ... LOL. It is
really good though. They must not have promoed it which is strange for a Clive
barker story. I have Boods of Blood in HB I got on a rummage for a buck

Rah Rah Hell Raiser ... especially like so many movies number 1. OH so Clive
Barker ... many people have never heard of this one and it is MMMMMM Good. Meat
Train. Everybody is supper ... but again not totally cannibal though some. I got
cha in the other so we can really get some off Ravenous topic discussions going
I bet.

OH!  OH!  I have "Feast"!  It's a good blend of horror and dark humor!  And they
even kill a kid!  lol!  I haven't seen "Feast II" for that exact reason... I
thought it would be lame.

I saw "Manhunter" the movie?  I thought Tom Noonan did good in it as the Tooth
Fairy... of course so did Ralph Fienes in the remake "Red Dragon"?  Is that the
one you mean?  If not... I'm not aware of the other one I don't believe.

I have never seen 'The Last Supper" cannibal one.  I did see the US dark comedy
one and I like that one although I thought it got weaker as the movie went on.

You should like "Ravenous" then... Mrs. McCready was a meal... lol!

Just a long shot... are you a fan of the "Hellraiser" series at all?

I don't know the origianl source but it was good. I guess it is his problem if
ever caught to explain it. Might sound crude to say that but ... meat is meat
LOL LOL
One good movie that is not cannibal but pretty close to it and good is Feast.
Fest 2 is lame though. I like the Hannibal ones and like the brain eating scene
as dark humor. Have you ever heard of or seen the original that all the Hannibal
came from called Manhunter with Willam Peterson from CSI. Not cannibal but a
side note touching on it. I found a cool movie in my searches form Japan called
the Last Supper. Not the dark comedy USA one. This is like a lot of Japanese in
feel but is really well done and a different approach to cannibalism ... at
least it has women as food LOL ... I know ... my pet hangup. Also has a little
English but not much. Story line tells it all though. Still after seeing aobut
every one made ... Ravenous is the best by far in all ways.

You know... I have to say had I been in that same situation, I probably would
have tried a stick myself.  Especially if I had a few.  Knowing what long pig is
I would just have to know.  No joke.  So it didn't taste like chicken eh?  lol!
I know... not funny but I have a very weird sense of humor.  I wonder though...
if it WAS if the "meat" was gathered by murder or just after death.  Because if
it was for murder I wouldn't be able to pay money to condone it.  But very
interesting story nonetheless. ..

Yes there aren't a lot of good cannibal movies.  I do have to say although it is
"mainstream" so to speak I enjoy the Hannibal Lector series.  I have all three
books which are a very good read.  As far as other cannibal moves out there it
is really difficult to pick any that even come close to Ravenous.

Supposedly :-) it is not bad fare. There is a reason they call it long pork,
hairless goat or human veal. OK ... so here is a story from my checkered past
that readers can cringe over. Many years ago I was in an Asian country and
wandering around a market with a group of like minded drunk males. We did have a
guide. At a booth a vendor was claiming he had long pig on a stick. My friends
laughed it off as tourist talk because otherwise he spoke in his native
language. I was more sober but also sort of tempted and asked the guide. He had
a very serious talk with the vendor and came back saying yes yes it is. In any
event I ordered my stick and so did the others. I believed, they did not. Only
problem with a lot of cooking in that country is ... it is HOT seasoned. Under
the heat it was mild like pork. I bought 3 more sticks :-) Was it??? who knows
but it was pretty tasty for $3.00 American LOL Is this off topic .. I don't know
but those plates they shared
did bring forth memories.
To bad there are few other good cannibal movies out there. It's a good story
line, better than sucking blood. Jus need more females invited to dinner LOL

Yes... if I am starving and there are some dead bodiees lying around you can bet
I'm going to live.  It's like the movie "Alive"... what's the big deal?  They
did not kill them to eat them and they had to survive.  If I died I would want
someone I loved to eat me if they had to survive.

Yes, Martha was an interesting twist. I guess it was appropriate she just walked
away in the end. I agree fully that the use Packer information, even his account
of Bell starting things, matches and teh Donner part did resort to cannibalism
so could have been an influence too. But then the Donner group was not the only
one who got stuck. A few fed some hungry indians I am sure :-) Meat is meat and
there is a point it all looks the same especially if only the hunter knows LOL.

Martha rules!   lol!  I always thought it was kinda funny if you watch and
notice at the very beginning... when Boyd enters the Fort with her and then he
gets off his horse he leaves her to do all the work with unpacking and
everything else.  Her look to him at that time as the camara pans is... these
white boys... thanks a lot asshole.  Ok.. maybe not but that's what I've always
seen out of it.

I would love to see your work.  If you ever decide to do something.  :)

Have you ever read about Alfred Packer?  I do believe the character of Colquhune
is heavily based on him, at least in the beginning.  That of course mixed with
the Donner party but Packer first and foremost.

I know what you mean on the being drawn in. I have to admit I am pretty much a
predator and so could relate to the battle though I doubt mine would be
rejection. Some of my recent work is very much like Dolcett but I am also drawn
to historical subjects in the old west ... ie millitary and mountain man. I
think the movie was really really underrated but that is probalby becasue the
cannibal aspects were real graphic. As far as they go it is the best I have seen
on that subject. Not so sure about all the metaphysical ideas but some probably
do ring true and are a belief of many cultures through history and even today.
For my part I do wish they would have had more emphasis on the taking of the
woman.
I owuld do something from the movie but I am not so sure about the legal issues.
I know a collage with other subjects would be OK. Maybe I should do an amalgum
of what they showed and what I imagine could float in the background ... then I
could add some poor traveling women to the menue LOL

even kill a kid!

Barker ... many people have never heard of this one and it is MMMMMM Good. Meat
Train. Everybody is supper ... but again not totally cannibal though some. I got
cha in the other so we can really get some off Ravenous topic discussions going

I am happy to find a group like this that looks like people are not
just being ultra freaky or fakes posing as something they are not.
Like the rest of you I am a fan of Ravenous but also some other like
concepts in film or fantasy tilting toward reality. I suppose I could
be called a Chef in waiting LOL
I take it some different directions as well because I am an artist and
videographer. One of my greatest visions is to make a film or films on
the subject but I am held back because I need that one special method
actress who shares a counterpart interest. But then that is what holds
my Chef personna in fantsay as well :-)To bad it takes 2 and I am hung

I take it some different directions as well because I am an artist and

Yes... if I am starving and there are some dead bodiees lying around you can bet

Big Welcome to the new members! As you can see there has been nothing
going on here and I have just about given up. I really wish there
would be more going on. Feel free to post anything... and I do mean
anything... and we can talk about it. :)

THANKS for wanting to be a part of RavenousServants. This is my
favorite movie of all time (with Carlyle my favorite actor) and the
soundtrack is awesome too!

What are your favorite parts? Lines? What did you take away from the
movie?

Steph

Ok. I was in Blockbuster after work and picked up the Fangoria
magazine in the line when I was waiting because 28 Weeks Later was on
the cover. Well... they have a very long cool interview with none
other than ROBERT CARLYLE about the movie and various other things.
I highly recommend picking it up by the way for it is a very recent
interview and article. It's issue #263 - May.

Ok.. here is the kicker... I will write out the last paragraph for
you...

Robert - "Of all the films I've ever done Ravenous is my favorite,"
he says, "It's more psychological and kind of a mindfuck type of
movie. There are moments in it where the visuals and the acting and
the music and the rest of it all come together. I've been fortunate
to be involved with other films like that but there's just something
about that double character and the moments of madness in Colqhoun,
which are pretty damn scary, even for me to look at, especially when
he's digging in the ground. There's a moments there, all that stuff
with the hands - I don't know where the hell that came from, I just
made all that up." A big smile lights up his face. "Ravenous, if I
have to say so myself, is a top film."

And that ends the article. Ok... AWESOME!!!! I am so glad that
Ravenous is his favorite movie. I feel like I am so happy he loves
that film since it is my favorite.

CHEERS TO YOU ROBERT!
STEPH

WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME!

It's so nice to see new faces here. I love Ravenous too so you'll fit right
in. I love everything about it. Who is your favorite character? Mine is
Colquhun/Colonel Ives, Boyd is second after him. The rest of them are tied
because they all just bring in different elements... mostly dark comedic
elements in my opinion.

   So glad you joined... :)

Spoilers: Some for Ravenous if you haven’t seen it.
Warnings: Cannibalism if you don’t know that. You and Ives are gonna have a
problem!

Summary: Captain John Boyd has to decide if he’s going to leave Fort Spencer
forever or stay and face his “demons.”

Notes: Drabble about 900 words. This is from a cut scene that was described by
producers but never put in the movie, nor in the deleted scenes. They apparently
missed one extra signing a release and therefore the footage was scrapped. But
when described, I realized it was such an important part of the story… I decided
to have my go at how I think that scene might have played out. Thanks to Joanne

“You don’t have to stay here, Captain. You can return with Major Lindus and
myself if you like-”

I jerk and my eyes widen in surprise. Did I just hear what I thought I heard? Is
General Slauson really offering to revoke my banishment and take me away from
Fort Spencer? I drop my head and run a hand through my tangled hair as my eyes
threaten to tear.

I just can’t seem to fathom it. There’s finally a chance for me to get away this
desolate place? To leave behind the terrible isolation and the endless nights of
little or no sleep? The latter, the cause of which are nightmares so vivid that
I wake screaming at the top of my lungs with my heart pounding. The reminders
that still linger inside the Fort torment me daily, of the small company that I
had just begun to understand and form friendships with. But thanks to the
madness that is Colqhoun, I ended up watching helplessly as they were brutally
murdered one by one. Bastard! He also stands nearby awaiting my reply as the
others do, but I cannot bring myself to look at the rouge just yet.

The monster has a different name now. This time he calls himself ‘Colonel Ives’
-and the Colonel would probably like nothing better than to kill me where I
stand. After all, I know his secret, for I too, to my shame, am Wendigo. I also
know that it was Ives that killed every last member of Fort Spencer’s small
company up on that mountain top except for me. He didn’t get me. Though that was
only because I jumped off the edge of a cliff to escape him. It was either that
or be murdered and eventually consumed by the wretched beast. I thought dying
from a fall would be the easier way out. But by some miracle of fate, I survived
and here I am back at Fort Spencer again, and now so is he.

All I have to do is say yes to the General’s offer and all this madness will be
over. I’ll be far from Ives’ reach and safe at some other post where I can watch
the days go by in blessed peace. Yet even as the thought crosses my mind,
something nags at the back of my conscious telling me it’s not going to be as
easy as all that. I start as Private Cleaves stumbles over the supplies
carefully stacked behind me, knocking them to the ground as he apologizes
profusely to his disapproving audience.

Oh dear god! In my haste, I have forgotten, Martha, Cleaves, and Knox! I can't
just leave them here, alone with Ives.! They’ll be lambs to the slaughter! I
clap a hand over my mouth, and nearly groan out loud. But how am I going to
bring Ives down all by myself? I couldn't stop him before so how could I
possibly stop him now? If only someone would believe me!

I watch silently as Cleaves slowly straightens the supplies then continues to
help Martha, who lost her brother George to Ives’ madness, back to find
somewhere that is more private. It’s at that moment that I realize it doesn’t
matter whether I think I can stop the man or not. What does matter is that I
cannot leave them alone with this maniac. They trust him, and don't know or
rather *won’t* believe what he is capable of. I am the only one that knows the
truth. One way or another, I have to protect them. I just couldn’t live with
myself if I left now.

“Captain?”

The General is still waiting for my reply, and I slowly raise my head and look
at Ives. He stares back at me, eyes level, a challenge clear in his steely gaze.

I say the words before I can change my mind.

“I’ll stay.”

The General and Ives both look at each other then to me in surprise. Surely they
figured I’d run at the first chance. It does not matter. I have to do this.

“Are you sure, Captain?”

I straighten my spine and put what I hope is a look of determination across my
face. I can’t let anything deter me from my decision.

Yes Sir, I’m sure,” I reply.

Slauson gives me a searching glance then finally reaches out to shake my hand.

“Good luck, Captain.”

My fate is sealed. As I shake the General’s hand, I hear Ives give an almost
inaudible laugh then turn to wish the General and Major farewell. He’s through
with me for the moment, but he’ll remember me soon enough.

I turn and make my way in a daze back to my quarters. I am alone in this, as I
have been alone in everything in my life. The difference this time? I now know
that monsters are real.

Time to find a knife. A very large knife.

Finis.
