I purchased a LEAF board from another R2 member a while back. But I haven't put it to use. It seems sad just sitting on a shelf. I've never powered it up or tested it. I got the point of "hey, LEAF looks really cool" combined with finding one. So not getting far enough into the project, I can't say whether it works or not. But the soldering looks great and it's been well cared for. I'll ship within the US for $150.

I remember a drawing like that. I will have to check my files at home.

Spotted this in an ad on Facebook, checked it out. Still a bit pricey, but
quite possibly do-able for behind an HP.

Happy 5th, Opportunity!
At around 60 below zero Fahrenheit.. (according to Yahoo Mars
Weather), not counting wind chill and adjusted for plumes of Methane gas,
Mars Rover Opportunity has made it to it's fifth birthday!! (AKA
'Rover B', when "Spirit" was originally 'Rover A')
'Oppie' (Picture a young, Robotic Ron Howard) Launched on July 7,
2003.. [the same exact day Lorelei 'Launched' into earth's atmosphere
from rocketship Mommy], and then started it's mission on January 23,
2004 (or Jan 22,24th?).. landing on the Mars Surface on Jan 26.
"Before landing, the goal for each rover was to drive up to 40 meters
(about 44 yards) in a single day, for a total of up to one 1 kilometer
(about three-quarters of a mile). Both goals have been far exceeded!
"Odometry
As of sol 1742 (Dec. 17, 2008), Opportunity's total odometry was
13,616.47 meters (8.46 miles)."
Yeah, ok big whoop.. but it's not like there's anywhere to drive TO.
No Malls, No Movies.. just Craters!
But five years, not bad for a Solar Powered Electric Vehicle..
millions of miles from home!

I asked Vern "Mind if I share this with the DPRG, SHARP, and the R2
builders?" and he replied "Go for it! :)"
Thanks to Vern for making this publicly available!
I started a gallery page again on my web site. This time it is focused on droids with AP dome drives. I have posted a couple of shots from Glenn Pipe's droid with the new version 2 drive installed (also has one of the new aluminum frames).
If you have an AP dome drive and don't mind sending me a picture I would enjoy growing the gallery to a bit larger size (we have made about 130 of them in the past 5 years, so must be a few pictures around).
I am also working on restoring my original galleries from C3 and C4 and a few of the grasper pictures I did at C3 (when we had the prop available) in the near future.
I have added a hub spacer to the AP Parts inventory. This is an option for the Pittman kits that allows you to adjust the height of the the gear or drive wheel. It is a 1/16" thick PVC plastic spacer. I get these from Servo City, so if you are planning an order from them, you can probably save on the shipping and paypal by ordering direct.
See the new part in my catalog/parts area. Look for part number HSR065. There is a link with picture also.
The new AP Dome Drive for Banebot motors is finally available (in stock). I have been very happy with mine (I use it with the A&A dome gear).
I finished the tutorial for the new V2 AP dome drive (with the Banebots motor). It came out pretty well. I included a couple of videos for those of you with fast internet connections. See it in my Builder Log section.
I should have these available for order in the coming week (prices same as the Pittman kits). I have been working with the prototypes for a while now, and have replaced my Pittman with one of them.
I would suggest a good ESC for the Banebot motor, as they pull more current than the Pittman. I am using the 227 RPM (MP-36064-540) motor at 12V with a Ventec RET411P speed controller, and like it a lot.
I will not be including the motors with these kits for US orders, as it just adds to the cost (The Paypal fees and shipping). If you are a non-US builder though, email me and I can add a motor to the kit and maybe save you some money, basically you would end up paying the shipping from Banebots to me, but only get one international shipping bill.

Why wait for a run??!! This is brand new, same condition as received in
(excellent), just waiting for an address label. Buyer pays what I did:
$450US+shipping to buyer. pics at
http://astromech.net/?q=gallery&g2_itemId=10808, serious inquiries only, please.
The new version 2 AP Dome drive for Banebot motor is just about ready for release. I am testing as we speak, and should have units in hand within 2 weeks. These use the Banebots motor for greatly improved torque. These motors are readily available, and significantly less money than the Pittman. I think they should be a great addition to our hardware inventory. Particularly useful for the heavier domes we are going to now.
I have decided to sell my aluminum Radar Eye that I
purchased from DD. I would like $160 for it I also have a black lens for it
for an addition $15 both with shipping would be $185

As a followup, just wanted to let everyone know that Gerald Coley gave
a demo of the beagle at our September DRPG meeting, and I have in my
hands today, a rev b5 beagleboard. Should have it running angstrom
distribution this weekend.

Friends I am a victim of fraud by Bentley O'toole in AU. In a nut
shell : He sent me a paypal invoice requesting $850. US for a R2D2 prop
back in Oct 2007. I never got it nor my money. The police have been
trying to track him down but he has managed to slip away. Pay pal ruled
in my favor but have not been able to recoup a dime. So be aware of
this scum bag. He knew my R2 project was going to be made R/C and was
to be used to bring happiness to our local childrens hospitals. I had
saved up that money for over a year and it was to be a father and son
project. Sadly its not going to happen now. Any one with knowlage of
his whereabout please email me the info and I will forward it to the
police.
I now have a small aluminum drive gear with hub available for the A&A dome gear system. A nice addition (in aluminum) that allows easy mounting to an AP dome drive or other motor. If you are using the A&A gear dirve for your dome, you can check it out at my web site.
I have a new unused PCB2 and a slightly broken PCB1
the PCB1 has twoburnt
traces all FETs have been replaced. I
am asking $250 for PCB2and
only $200 for PCB1. I
would like to sell them as a set for $450plus paypal fees and shipping. I need to sell
this or my LEAF board with USB and Adapt9S12D512MM. I have $200 in the
Leaf board it is missing the modular jacks and Gryo and Accel board.
I also have an OOPICR and three Basic Stamps. If you would
like any more info on any of this just send me an email at n0vot @ fidnet.com
no reasonable offer refused. I need to pay some bills and
only need one programmable robot board.
Thanks
