Thamanna is quite happy because she has paired will all the big stars. Kandein Kadhalai which she did the female lead role is doing well at the box office.

The shooting of the film Thillangadi and Sura is going on. Thamanna recently shared her cinema experiences with the media people. She said,” I am currently acting in Paiya, Thillangadi and Sura. Paiya is being released for Pongal.

I want pair with Kamal. If I get the chance I will not miss it. Among actresses I like Asin and Trisha very much. They are best actors and they have lot of fans. Tamil cinema is in very good condition now. I am really very happy to be part of it.

I have no intention of acting in Hindi cinema. If I get a good story I might act in a Hindi film. I will not act in swimming suits. I have been signed for two Telugu films. I have no intention of getting married now. If any body says that he is in love with me, my reply will depend on the person concerned. We cannot say that actresses go to act in Hindi films to earn money.

Asin, the most beloved actress of the South, celebrated her birthday on October 26, 2009. Let us wish this beautiful woman a very happy birthday.

Asin has scaled great heights in a short span of time. She started her film career with Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in Malayalam, but it was Amma Naana Oka Tamil Amaayi, her first film in Telugu, that made her a household name. With this Telugu film, news about her work, acting skills and beauty reached all corners of the South. Soon, Kollywood beckoned. It remade Amma Naana… into M. Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmi; Asin reprised her role convincingly and walked into the hearts of every Tamil. Kollywood became besotted with this actress – it almost wanted her to act in every film it made! Everyone was enamoured by her beauty, energy and chirpiness. Then came a milestone in her career – Ghajini. Murugadoss knew very well that this girl would set new standards in the industry and Asin proved him right. Ghajini was a huge success and Asin was an inseparable component of that success story. The season after Ghajini saw her act with all the top heroes of Kollywood; she even became a widely-discussed name in the rest of India. The surprising fact is that her fan base stretched to include even little kids whose attention is normally riveted on the hero, his style and stunts! She has only added to her fan base after Dasavatharam, her beautiful eyes depicting mischievousness, vulnerability, and serenity. Asin who rose to fame through her very first film 'Ghajini' in Hindi has signed to be the brand ambassador for various products and services. Now she has been signed up by Big Bazzar to be their brand ambassador. Accepting this, Asin was in Gurgaon for the ad shoot. In the ad shoot she paired with our Indian cricket team captain M S Dhoni. Both Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Asin took part in this shoot.

What we are wondering that what on earth happened to beautiful Aishwarya who was supposed to work in this film at the first place. Does this have anything to do with motherhood?

How difficult was it for daddy’s daughter to work independently after her father was hospitalized?

It wasn’t very difficult. My dad was never a baby-sitter on the sets. Between us, it’s a client-and-manager kind of a relationship. Since I don’t have a manager or a secretary, my father plays a three-in-one role. Recently, I went to Bangalore to launch the Bangalore Food Guide. I called him up at one in the morning to just wish him good night. Even then, his phone was engaged! My work-related issues had been keeping him busy so late in the night. Now, there is somebody to accompany me in his place. The only difference is, since this person is doing a professional job, the personal touch of having my father around, is missing.

Do you have your parents accompany you while shooting?

My mother,, who is a doctor, has opted for VRS. My father isn’t there to stare into the monitor as I shoot. He sees to it that everything is organized, and then leaves. It’s disturbing when people confuse my father with the ‘baby-ko-juice-doh’ kind of parents who are always there on the sets. My dad is an independent thinker and never indulges in such behavior.

How difficult is it to shoot romantic scenes in your father’s presence?

I’m quite comfortable when he is around. It’s my profession. If I can agree to a scene that will be viewed by my parents in the audience, why won’t I be able to shoot it in front of them?

A lot is being said about how Salman Khan gifted you a house…

How silly is that! I’ve been living in the same house ever since I went to Mumbai to shoot for Ghajini. I hadn’t even met Salman then. The media has got him to gift me a new house, someone to do the interiors and even adorned my walls with his paintings and posters!

Isn’t the audience mature enough to understand that these link-up stories are a part of the movie’s marketing strategy?

There are so many untrue stories and misquotes that I think many people would have become conscious of the media games. Of course, a percentage would want to believe it as a topic of discussion, even if they actually have doubts about it.

Can’t the publicists of a film be responsible for this too?

I’m not familiar with such a strategy. During Ghajini, I knew exactly how the movie would be promoted by first releasing Aamir’s look. But the London Dreams team has not discussed anything of that sort with me.

How differently do Salman and Aamir approach a role?

Salman is very relaxed and chilled out. He is spontaneous and even if he has done the homework for his role in his mind, on the sets, he does an impromptu job. In Ghajini, Aamir would come and discuss the role with me, suggest changes and seek suggestions. As for me, I prefer a mixture of both.

You’ve featured in the Lead India campaign to woo voters. Ever considered campaigning for individual stars?

No. I’ve been approached in the south, but I have always declined such offers. Be it difficult or easy, one has to say no when one doesn’t want to do something.

What is everyone talking about? Asin's overnight success in Bollywood and the way it all happened is as if it was scripted! What could be the secret of Asin's success? Though fortune (or fate?) is a major fact in cinema, the actress would surely reaffirm that all this did not happen overnight, but only after several years of hard work and being at the right place at the right time! Anyway, Asin is basking in well-deserved success after Aamir Khan's Ghajini.

Asin's magic began after she was appeared as the heroine of four leading Tamil actors: Suriya, Vikram, Vijay and Ajith in Ghajini, Maja, Sivakasi and Varalaru respectively. Asin was honoured with the Tamil Filmfare Award for Best Actress for Suriya's Ghajini, which some consider to be the first breakthrough in her career. Asin then opted for a less hectic schedule, becoming choosier in selecting her roles.

Her biggest landmark came with her first dual role in Kamal Haasan's magnum opus Dasavathaaram, and her portrayal was praised as her "best-to-date". After establishing herself as a leading actress in the South, Asin moved into Bollywood with Aamir Khan's Ghajini. The film garnered positive reactions from critics and masses alike, with Asin being presented four prestigious awards: Filmfare Best Hindi Debut Award, Star Screen Best Female Newcomer Award and Stardust Female Superstar of Tomorrow Award and the IIFA award.

Asin means pure, without blemish. Just like her name, she maintained an extremely sparkling clean image when she acted in Southern language films. But after her Bollywood debut, the grapevine keeps buzzing about Asin and her co-actors, especially London Dreams' Salman Khan. Asin has been linked with Salman ever since they came together for London Dreams. "Linking up co-stars is an outdated pre-publicity stunt for films. Salman is chilled-out guy, very supportive. We have a good professional rapport," Asin said recently.

Apart from Khan's London Dreams, Asin is also the heroine of Bharat Bala's trilingual international project The 19th Step to be made in English, Japanese and Tamil with 'Ulaga Nayagan' Kamal Haasan and Japanese superstar Tadanobu Asano in the lead roles. We’ve known her as a model and an enchanting actress. But the bubbly young actor has a relatively unknown side to her: she is an ace in interior designing.
