Damn, it has sure been a while... I just realized today that it's been
12 months since I last went out with a special lady, but I am pretty happy
to be heading out tonight. I've had a bit of trouble finding any decent women
lately so I joined up at this place about 2 weeks ago
http://www.hookupbaronline.info/umhh . So far been doing pretty well, just
chatting to a few girls near me on Webcam and via the mail system on the place,
but this is the first one I've lined up. So anyway, wish me luck guys!

the place they told me: http://www.behappynow.info/oweke , but what do you guys
reckon? Myself, I actually think it is pretty awesome from what I've seen, and
Im considering getting on there later on this evening. If you don't know what it
is, basically its like a matchingplace, but has few added things I noticed.
Stuff like messenger, vidchat, picsrate, etc. Best part is you can talk to ppl

Just a quick note to let you all know that I am still working on my
hilt. Unfortunatly, coming home from Iraq has upset my life, and I
didn't get it done in time. But not being deployed any more is a good
thing. Not to mention that I am now clear of the Army. No more
soldiering for me. I did join the Army Reserve, but... that isn't
being a soldier 24 - 7.

Anyway... everyone stay alive on the board. As the thrill that is EP
III starts to burn out, I do not want the board to go quiet again.
It's hard to find people that enjoy Star Wars as much as I do.

Take care all.

all the books give so much more information. However, the averadge
fan wont read them, and then they loose a significant portion of the
plot, the story line as a whole, and a perspective on the characters
individual choices. I too was laughing when no one else was.
especially with R2-D2. I think they did a phinomonal job bringing
out some of his quirks. The books actually offer dialog when C3P0 is
with him, witch made some of their interaction that much funnier on
the big screen.

Although I agree that Hayden did a good job, I just don't feel he
pulls off the "bad boy" immage. He looks to much like a pretty boy,
even with the scar and the yellow eyes.

I did however find myself in tears durring the parts showing the
various Jedi being killed. And as for Padme's "no will to live" i
wont ruin the truth for you. Just read the book. I promiss it isn't
like the end of the movie. Similar, but not the same. And Sidious's
personal thoughts upon finding Vader... all I can say is ... wow.

I am on pain killer medication now, so if any of my thoughts seem
inchoherent, please forgive me. I had two lycoma lumps removed from
my body yesterday, and I am adjusting.

Later one and all,
May the Force be with you.

i agree with what you are saying. i didn't want to read the book first, i wanted
to see the
movie unspoiled. i really enjoyed the movie but i also felt things were either
rushed or that
you were just supposed to accept things so that the whole story would make
sense. i left
feeling like i needed more. i thought hayden did a good job, but when he pledged
his
allegiance to palpitine it still seemed rushed and a bit contrived. the dialog
between
padme and anakin was awful, which is too bad considering their relationship is
the main
motivator behind anakin's action. i didn't understand why she had no will to
live when she
just gave birth to twins. i loved ian mcdiarmid i thought he stole the show he
was intense,
thoughtful and hilarious. though it seemed that i was laughing alot when no one
else in
the theater was. i just bought the book, i'm hoping to fill in the gaps a bit,
perhaps i'll
have a different understanding of the film after. one of the problems i think
is that attack
of the clones needed to be a better bridge, too much was left to cover here. i
basically
came away thinking that this was a great story but the delivery needed to be
better.

Well... we have found ourselves at an impasse. EP III has come out,
and I went to see it. As a 30 year Star Wars geek and Star Wars
Historian, I have this to say about the movie.

I read the book before I watched the movie. The book is always good
about telling you what a character is thinking, where as the movie,
attempts to convey these thoughts through facial expression. And as
such, add to your movie watching experience a new depth of
understanding. However, In this case, I think they left allot out of
the movie, so that they could add the battle on Kyyyshyk with the
Wookies. Yea, we get to see Chewie again. Woopty do. I like Chewie, I
do, but to add almost 20 minutes of film time and take those 20
minutes away from the core plot is something that I find lacking.

I felt as is the movie was rushed. I feel that the Lucas Arts team
cut too many corners, almost as if they were behind on production,
and needed to push out a final product in a hurry. I also feel that
with the advent of computer technology being at the fore front of
animation in movies now, that Old' George has lost sight of his
creativeness. The computer animators did a hell of a job with the
appearance, but just like the lie that is Han Solo shooting 'after'
Greado, so to was the diminutive little green creature. They really
could have pulled the old puppet of Yoda out of moth balls and used
it when he was stationary. Any movement could have been CGIed using
the actual puppet as the base for the animation. I feel it would have
looked allot less fake.

As far as Anakin going over to the Dark side, they did an okay job of
playing out the temptation of power, by supplying a need for Anakin
to have more power. This, surprisingly enough falls right in line
with the comic books of Luke crossing over to the dark side. But Liea
was able to rescue Luke. Thus fulfilling the prophecy of Anakin
bringing balance to the Force. Anakin was only the catalyst that
started the chain of reactions that would enable his offspring, on of
the Light, and one of the Dark, to finally bring balance. It was
necessary for the light to be eradicated, so that the Light and the
Dark started out with the same intensity. Hence, balance.

However, I did like the movie. Although I was disappointed at the
lack of dialog. I wish movie makers wouldn't sacrifice story for
action. But alas, this is the world in which we live. Americans have
become so impatient with their lives and their comings and goings,
that those that make movies are forced to make what I call "wham-bam,
thank you ma'am" movies. So few of the American public will go and
watch a live action play any more. We want to sit down and watch the
whole thing in less than two hours and thirty minutes. This is why
plays have what is called intermission. Why can't movies have the
same? Why can't we, as thinking humans, demand better quality and
better quantity? Why should our lives be governed by the "I want it
all and I want it delivered" rule?

Film makers won't make that change unless we start to demand it. They
make movies to entertain us, and as long as the whole of the American
public suffers from A.D.D. and have an attention span of 2.5 hours,
they will continue to cram as much as possible into as short a time
as possible.

Did you wonder why Obi-Wan was fussing at Anakin about the landing
bay shields still being up? Or wonder why Count Dooku had only a few
lines during their fight? How did Anakin know that Padme` was
standing behind the pillar as he spoke to Senator Organa? How did
Anakin know that Obi-Wan had gone to see Padme`? These are just a few
questions that the movie raises that you won't know the answers to
unless you read the books.

Lord of the Rings... they sacrificed next to nothing. Each of those
movies told a story, and each story told a part of the whole tale. We
as the consumer public need to stop looking for the easy way out, and
start demanding a better bang for our buck.

But as I always will hold true to... read the books. They will
stimulate your mind better than any movie can.

hey kids,

I'll go over the various parts you will see in the pictures of my
hilt. I hope you all have fun seeing the proggress as I have fun
making it.

In keeping with the SW tradition of the hilt being a reflection of
the maker, I opted to use all aircraft parts for mine. Except the
tube, which I bought at Lowe's before deploying.

Starting with the bottom, or pommel, I decided I wanted a funky
shape. The object that looks like a stainless steel tampon aplicator
is the locking pin for the engin cowling on a UH-60 Blackhawk. It
iwll simulate a power pack.

The spacers will be mounted on the out side as hand guards. And the
trim release button, which is found on the controle stick of the
Blackhawk, will be the on/off button. I have it mounted already, and
yes... you can push it. It doesn't do anything though. Maybe the
next one I make will have all the special effects bells and whislts.
I just didn't want to spend the money on that stuff over here. Mail
order for me is a pain in the ass right now.

The copper bushing and the two "washers" will be part of the
emmitter housing. The rivet stems are the left over parts from
driving blind rivets, or Cherrymax rivets. I realy don't see a place
for solid rivets on my hilt.

That pretty much sums it up. If you have any questions feel free to
email me. And Monmothma, for a costume idea, you could go as Jan Ors
from the Dark forces games. Just a thought. unless you want to die
your hair red, wear green contacts and go as Mara Jade.

Take care all.

other of the major characters...there will be enough of them floating

Send me some ideas!!!!

Hey... where did every body go?
I had an interesting conversation with one of the group members a
couple of weeks ago. It was alot of fun. It's a nice change to have
met people that can accualy carry on a conversation about Star Wars.
Anyway... like I said in a previos posting, I am going to be
assembling a lightsaber hilt. I wanted to make it specific to me, as
every hilt is unique. So I have ammassed as many cool looking
aviation parts from the Blackhawk helecopter as I could lay my hands
on. I will be posting some pictures here to show progress, along
with a short explanation for each of the parts. from start to
finish. I hope you all have as much fun looking at it being built as
I have making it. I don't know about every one here, but the next SW
movie may be the last, and I mean to be there in Jedi robes and
hilt. Geeky of me? you bet. But i don't care. I grew up with SW, and
it has been a part of my life. This last movie, no matter how sucky,
is going to be a land mark in my almost 30 years of life.

Take care everyone.

I don't know how many of you are into playing MUDs (multi-user
domaines) but I have one. A friend of mine from England started this
one up after the one we were playing died out. We are currently
trying to get a bigger player base to make the SW universe more
interesting.

If you are interested, contact me, and I will give you the
information. I unfortunetly am not on my computer right now and I do
not have the address on me at this time.

The MUD is a Star Wars MUD, taking place durring the time of the
Rebelion, or just before, I am not real up on the time line. (a sin
for me, because I love Star Wars so much).

Talk to you cats later.

*looks around furtively* Uh, I have no idea what you're talking
about... Anyhow, Han's vying for attention among a knot of x-wing
pilots and elves at the moment. ;)

Oh man, that trivia match still makes me laugh! *eeeeeeevil grin* I
forget what the question was but the answer pertained to the 5th book
in the X-Wing series when the Captain of the Night Caller got
splattered to the ceiling of his vessel. Something 'bout Piggy and
one of the laser cannons off an x-wing(could relay the whole story
but 'twould smack of effort) Haha! Too funny!

Hey everyone *extra wave to all you old members!;)*,
    I'm Jacquie. I don't recall when I last checked in here...which
means it was probably ages ago. I'm finishing up my BFA right now so
I've been super busy. :D I haven't gotten the dvds yet. Don't know
if I will. I think Lucas is super money greedy and I'm annoyed with
him and his multiple changes to the "original trilogy"...but I love
episode 4-6 and I suppose I can live with some of his Special Edition
changes though not all. Episode III, I'll probably see once or max.
twice in theatres. I've stopped reading the books 'cause I don't
like the NJO books...but I still like all the previous novels. Yuh.
Lately, I've been more LotR-y than SW-y. Peter Jackson seems nicer
and his LotR movies are absolutely AWESOME compared to the SW
prequels IMO...LOL...and the LotR books have always been far superior
IMO(all probably blasphemous in this group, I know:D). But hey, did
I mention I love the REAL SW Original Trilogy? ;D Oh yes, and there
are multiple other aspects to my life but hey, this isn't that kinda
group;)

Have a nice day!
