Hollywood star Russell Crowe has delighted staff at an English charity shop by
popping in to leave a generous cash donation.
Crowe took a break from filming his new Robin Hood movie to visit a nearby
Cancer Research shop in Sunningdale, Berkshire, west of London, the Daily Star
reported on Tuesday.
A volunteer told the newspaper: 'We couldn't believe it when Russell Crowe came
in and gave us the money.'
'We had been hoping to catch a glimpse of him.
'We were all a bit star-struck but it was lovely to meet him and he stopped and
had a bit of a chat with us.'
While the amount donated was undisclosed, it was the second time a good deed by
the Oscar winner has come to light while filming the Ridley Scott-directed film
recently.
Last week, Crowe gave the movie's sound recordist, Denise Yarde, STG5,000
($A10,200) to buy a new car after her old one burst into flames while she was
driving from her London home to the set.
