Does anyone have a copy of Erin Gray's "English Leather" TV commercial to post?
What about her guest appearance on "Hollywood Squares?"

Well, I was going to get dsl in time for the series. It just became
available. But that will be more money every month. Unless they are
realy cheap, like 1 dollar an ep, and dvd quality, then I probly won't
watch. If I pay, then I would want it to play in a full screen, not
something with tool bars around the edge.
I can't stand logo's on regular tv. (mostly zoom and pan to get rid of
those if I watch anything on regular tv.) Mostly watch a lot of dvd's
from the public library. mes.

Apologies to Scott and all members, as it appears we are having some email issues. I approved Scott's original post, but it only appeared on our web page, and not via email. Not to my account, anyway. This message made it thru, but I only knew it existed by visiting the web site. It appears I never got notified a message was waiting for approval.

It is interesting that they will apparently be charging for the new web episodes. I am not used to paying for episodes of anything, but I think I would pay in this case! I know it costs a lot to make these episodes, even if it is done with a lot of volunteer effort. Open-ended donations can't happen forever. What do you think?

I just found out Erin gave the keynote address at the CHOICES 2009
Annual Peacemaker Awards Charity Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Hotel
in Columbus Ohio last Thursday. Her speech was on domestic violence.

During the luncheon, she received the 2009 Peacemaker Award for her
work on raising awareness on domestic violence, and her efforts in
raising funds. She wants to thank all her fans for the many
donations they have made when she attends conventions. She said it
takes a gift of the heart to change the world.

She also wanted to relate her sincere apology to the fans who
attended Victoria Comic Con last weekend, as she was unable to attend
at the last minute due to some travel coordination problems with the
promoter.

She looks forward to meeting the fans in the UK on November 21-22
with Mary McDonnell, Gil Gerard and Tony Todd!

"Buck Rogers Update
In other news for Cawley Productions, they have recently finished up the first round of shooting for the pilot (titled "Armageddon: 2491") of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, a new web series based on the classic Buck Rogers comics. Cawley tells TrekMovie that they will finish up shooting in the Spring, and the show is still on track to debut in the Fall of 2010. The show stars Phase II's Bobby Rice as Buck Rogers. Included in the cast are Gil Gerard and Erin Gray, who starring the NBC Buck Rogers TV series from 1979-1981. Cawley has sent us a first look, with a shot of Gerard and Rice (see bottom picture in above link)."

Yes, Buck will be the original 1928 Philip Francis Nowlan vision of a World War I pilot who was frozen in suspended animation and awakened 500 years later.  Here's a pretty good write-up on the upcoming series:

http://trekmovie.com/2009/01/12/phase-iis-james-cawley-bringing-buck-rogers-to-the-web/

I just watched the whole Dragon*con panel.  Did not know that was on youtube.  Thanks!!   :-)

Wayne

It was announced during the Buck Rogers panel that Gil would play Buck Rogers' Father and Erin would play his Mother prior to Buck being sent to the 25th Century in the upcoming web series - Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.  Also they went on to say that both Gil and Erin would have roles in the 25th Century - Gil would be Buck's Commander - I did not catch exactly what role Erin would play.  They start shooting at the end of the month.  The story starts during World War I.
Someone has posted the entire panel of the Star Trek Phase II.  Gil Gerard was part of the panel.    Toward the end of this clip, is the trailer for Kitumba which Gil is in.

Before anyone gets too confused, we have a couple conversations going
on here -- Sam as Wilma on the Cabonauts should be in a streaming
media format on DailyMotion.com (see sample link below), and the new
Buck series with Erin and Gil making an appearance should be similar
to the Star Trek Phase II series of which they've put up several
episodes so far.

In that series, I have downloaded discrete movie files in many
formats: .AVIs, .MPGs, .WMVs, and .MP4s. The smallest was 80 MB, and
the largest was 643 MB. I haven't noticed them in anything but
downloadable form, and I'd be surprised to see them on DVDs or TV.
At least with the Trek series, they aren't allowed to make a profit,
as they don't own the rights. It's purely a fan-based effort.

Now, over an old-style 33.6 kbps connection, that would be about 7
hours for the 80 MB file, and 2.3 -DAYS- for the 643 MB file. Yep,
that's SLOW!!! :-) On my cable modem, the 643 MB file could
theoretically come down in as little as 4-1/2 minutes, but more
likely in less than 20.

Here's the Cabonauts sample I promised:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9xz1m_the-cabonauts-trailer_shortfilms

And here's a jump point for some of the Star Trek Phase II episodes,
the predecessors to the new BR series (the same person who plays
Captain Kirk will play Buck):

http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/episodes.html

Here's some info on what that series is all about (the new BR series
will no doubt be similar):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_Phase_II_(fan_series)
(NOTE: If you got a "Wikipedia does not have an article with this
exact name.", check to be sure the address ended in a closed
parenthesis)

And a link to their pilot episode, which it appears they've removed
from their episode page ("This was our pilot episode that, while
watchable, does not compare with our later episodes like "World
Enough and Time"")

I also found that original pilot episode on Youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie6N4pqRS7g (part I)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoRvX7q2-pg&feature=related (part II)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU9si4fWvUA&feature=related (part III)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx6X6tNHwSY&feature=related (part IV)

Remember, that episode was their pilot, and isn't as good as later
ones. The Phase II episode "World Enough and Time" was actually
nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Short
Form in 2008, alongside episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood and
Battlestar Galactica! Unfortunately, it lost out to the Doctor Who
episode "Blink".

The Cabonauts, the new Buck Rogers series, and even the Trek series
should provide a lot of interesting viewing in the months to come!!
:-)

Some things they do not let you record or even save to hard drive, and
some they do. But if all else fails, and you have an s-video output on
your video card on the computer, you just run a cable to a stand alone
dvd or vhs recorder. The head phone jack from the computer and a
splitter adapter from radio shack takes care of the audio. There are
also pc-to-tv boxes that are like 30 or 40 bucks at computer stores and
I have seen them at best buy too. Just plugs into the vga port in the
back and is powered by your usb. They have s-video and composite outs.
Nobody ever thinks of doing things the old fasion way.
Anyway, I hope it will come to syfy or something. I would at least
like to "see" it.
If not, a reasonably priced dvd set. Especialy if they have nice
extras.
Some things I wait for if I know they are going to be on dvd.
BTW; You know, every time they interupt a tv show and I call the tv
channel to complain, they always say "well you can watch it on the web".
The powers that be think everyone lives in the crummy city and has
broadband. All you have to do is go out about 20 miles and look out at
all the dusk to dawn lights from a high place to see that there are
millions of rual folk with no cable modems. (don't get me started
about dusk-to-dawn lights in the country) arrrgg. Anyway, I'll
watch those forums and hope I get some good news. mark.

The best place to get information on the web series is to join the Star Trek Phase II's forum here - http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/forum/  There is  a Buck Rogers Begins sub forum on the board.

There is a Buck Rogers Begins forum here.  http://forums.buckrogersbegins.com/
Its not real busy right now.  I suspect the forum will get busier when  they start production.  It seems like they announce stuff first on the Phase II forum.  That may change when production starts.

I hope this helps.

Not sure how to record the netcast, but it would be an interesting problem to investigate.  I guess it depends on the format that the show is in.

Subject: [erin_gray] New BR Series availability

Is there any info of it being available on a cable/satelite station? Or as a dvd release? Or possibly, is anyone going to record it?I am on dial up.  Broadband is not available out here in the country. (not that I could afford it)Watching video on computer is realy not an option.  It would take me about 5 hours to download a 45 min show.  And I need my phone for calls.       mark.

If they do as good a job as they did with the Trek series, this could be quite interesting!   :-)

Looks like Erin maybe involved in the first story if her schedule permits.
