Are you wondering if your script is ready to go out to producers,
directors and stars?

Do you want to take your script to the next level, sell it quickly
and have it get made?

Do you know whether the script is ready for the marketplace, or what
to fix in the rewrite?

After examining your script's premise, tone, character development,
dialogue, plotting, structure, rhythm, pacing, format, and overall
marketability, Peter Myers will give you a spot-on, extensive
write-up showing which areas need work --- to give you a better shot
at selling it! Peter's fee to do this is $250.00 US.

Peter has done this for indie production companies in which he was a
partner, and he became very sharp at it!

NEWS FOR 2009: This year, two feature films have been shot
(one in Los Angeles and one in Alaska), which were based on scripts
rewritten according to Peter's analyses. Both of them are now in
post-production. Peter's advice to screenwriters is part of an
anthology of practical exercises "Now Write! Screenwriting", due in
bookstores soon.

Peter has sold, written for hire, or optioned ten feature scripts and
has had a number of things produced for the media of syndicated
television and cable. In 2005, a script of his won an Honorable
Mention in the script competition at the Thunderbird Int'l Film
Festival. Five projects of his are on the production slates of four
Independent production companies in Southern California.

In 2009, he may be writing a script for 2006 Oscar/Golden Globe
nominee, actor Terrence Howard – who asked him to work on a project.
Peter has also developed a script with Best Picture Oscar-winning
producer, Fred Roos.

Peter has produced short films and is producing one of his own
theatrical feature scripts in 2009 on a $5 million dollar budget,
so he analyzes scripts from the viewpoints of both a writer and a
producer. He is also co-producing a six- to eight-million dollar
picture with a fellow producer, for whom he polished the script
in 2008.

You can reach Peter at 323-821-7349, 323-464-8537 or email him at
peterdavidmyers@....

service), go to the link below, then scroll to see "Comments", such
as: "I incorporated many of your well thought-out notes and, as a
result, I'm having unprecedented success," --- Dirk L.; "Thank you so

Hey everyone -

Just thought I'd share. A short screenplay I entered in a contest on
MoviePoet.com last October was picked up by RTKIII Productions -
www.richardthomaskeel.com and is currently In Production.

It will be entered into the film contest on MoviePoet.com and a few others as
well.

The short "Heartbroken" is in our scripts folder. The producer wanted the name
to be changed for more impact so the film will be titled "Falling Apart". I'll
get a writing credit.

I'll keep you posted.

Seems small time, but kind of exciting anyway. Thought I'd share.

WHAT NOT TO DO IN A SCREENPLAY
IF YOU WANT IT TO SELL

Writer/producer and script consultant, Peter Myers,
shares the most common mistakes screenwriters make which lessen a script's
chances of getting a greenlight

A free talk on
November 17, 7:00 p.m. (free parking on premises)

At Author Services, 7051
Hollywood Boulevard (at Sycamore), L.A. CA 90028

In recent years, in addition to his writing and producing, Peter Myers
has analyzed over eighty screenplays for writers, producers and directors.
Two feature films (one in L.A., and one in Alaska) were shot in 2009,
using scripts rewritten according to Peter's analyses, with a third
scheduled for later in 2009, and a fourth scheduled for 2010 at England's
famous Pinewood Studios. Peter's practical advice to writers will appear
in &q uot;Now Write! Screenwriting," due in bookstores soon.

Peter sees the same flaws in most scripts he analyzes: Errors in
premise, theme, tone, character development, dialogue, plotting,
structure, rhythm, pacing, format or marketability. Due, partly, to the
stiff competition, these mistakes can sabotage a sale. Peter goes over
them in detail.

Peter has been hired to write, rewrite, or has optioned, over ten feature
scripts and has had material produced for the media of syndicated
television and cable. One of his scripts won an Honorable Mention in the
script competition at the Thunderbird Int'l Film Festival. Peter
developed a script for a Best Picture Oscar-winning producer which (as a
$50-$75 million movie), went into the packaging stage at the prestigious
William Morris Agency.

As either writer or producer, Peter currently has five projects on
the development/production slates o f four independent film companies in
Southern California. Three of his projects are part of a five-picture,
$240 million film slate which he created with producer Karen Kramer, widow
of the great producer/director, Stanley Kramer.

screenwriters who want to know "what happens after i'm done?"...filled with
great "war stories" and strategies to help the aspiring screenwriter know what's
waiting for him/her in the world of television, film, and the theatre...nothing

(REPOST FOR LAURA)

Hi Dave!

Laura from spring semester screenwriting class. Hope you're doing well!

Congratulations!  I just read "Opening Arguments" and thought it was fantastic;
very vivid, detailed writing! Are you going to continue the story? I would
love to read more.

And now my novice questions... :-)

I 'm still a bit confused with parentheticals - What does the "as" mean in the
parentheticals when Gibbons spoons sugar into his coffee cup? Also would the
action of "Taps the spoon on the cup" be a parenthetical as well? I think I may
have way too may parentheticals in my screenplay. I probably really don't know
the proper way to use it. I am still working on my script, a little bit at a
time; making very slow progress...

Congratulations again! Great job!

Laura

generally, you're right when you avoid putting parentheticals, i.e. "wrylies" in you screenplay...similar to camera angles, "wrylies" are interpreted as the writer telling the actor how to deliver his/her lines...when the line needs to be delivered a  certain way, say "wow"...can be delivered with sarcasim or amazement, then put in a wryly to avoid confusion...another use of parentheticals is when you want you character to be doing something specific while delivering a line...so gibbons is "spooning sugar as" he speaks...there are some feelers about producing "opening arguments" as a short so any expansion would be done in conjunction with the production...right now, i'm trying to finish "presidentress" so i can have it read by an agent this fall...anyway, thanks for reading "opening arguments"...keep in touch...

peace,
db

p.s. don't be afraid to post you script (even if it is a partial) on the group site..i'm sure you'll get feedback (len and i always would be happy to give it our "two cents worth")

There is a fabulous Industry magazine called, "Inktip". You can submit you
synopsis or your screenplay and it has a huge chance of being published in the
magazine. Your screenplay will be submitted on their website regardless if it's
in the magazine or not. The nice thing about this magazine is that it's trusted
by the professionals, and the professionals use it. Producers and etc. log onto
InkTipPro where they can search for genre's and sub-genre's. It's a great way to
interact with Industry professionals and another way to get your screenplays out
there. Just thought I'd let everyone know. Part of my job is to search through
the new issues and website and find new ideas.

In searching for rules on writing remakes, I found this article. I would
suggest writing the author of the article for material you could find on writing
remakes.

Hey!

I am not sure what the answer is to this, however, www.wga.org is a great
resource for this type of information. I started searching a bit for rewrites,
but it's confusing what I want for a 'rewrite' of an existing contract that is
in progress, not of an old movie. In the process I found this:

http://www.wga.org/content/default.aspx?id=3224

Len Blum wrote the new Pink Panther (which I thought sucked) based on the old
Pink Panther. You'll probably find better. If I find something, I'll pass it
on.

Can you give me a synopsis of your screenplay? I would like to possibly suggest
it to Minor Distractions Entertainment.

Hello everybody -

During class, I told you I'd let you know when I'd be ready to give up my copies
of software.

Final Draft Mac Version 7.1.2 is available.
Windows Final Draft Version 7.1.1.9 is available.

Who wants it?

Hello all -

Here is a podcast Dave thought you might enjoy about writing action for scripts.

No summer blockbuster is complete without an off-the-charts action scene, but
Script recognizes that piecing together the perfect sequence can be difficult.
So, we found someone who has proven his prowess when it comes to pushing the
limits of film action. Listen as Chris Morgan (Cellular, The Fast and the
Furious: Tokyo Drift, Wanted, Fast & Furious) talks to Rob Piluso about keeping
audiences on the edge of their seats.

Hello Lindsey!

Great to hear from you. What's the name of the film company you're working for?
It sounds like a great opportunity for everyone here to submit a screenplay
right now.

Class was good this semester. A lot of good ideas and writing. The group was
lively.

How was the trip overseas?

pre-reading scripts and determining if they're eligible to be produced by this
company. From what I know, this company specializes in kid stories, and films
teaching kids language, alphabet, math, etc. I know this is probably a different
direction of writing for all of you, but I thought I'd let everyone know that
if you want you can submit stories. When I have further information, I'll let
everyone know. Hope everyone is doing well!

Hey everyone,

Long time no talk.

I just thought I'd let everyone who's interested know that I am possibly getting
an internship with a small independent film company. It's still undetermined as

Hey everyone -

Just wanted to say thanks for a great semester of writing. There were some good
ideas in the class and I really enjoyed the readings and the acting out of the
screenplays.

Don't get discouraged and keep writing.

We look forward to seeing you upload your latest writing(s) whether they're new
or updates to your existing project.

I've just uploaded my latest revision of SleepWalker. Please take a read and
provide me with open feedback.

I look forward to your comments and participation.

Dave and I will continue to do book reviews, post up resources and expose you to
some great talent like Peter David Myers who is a member of our group now and a
great resource.

Feel free to expose us to resources, talks, contests as you see fit!

Regards,

Len Ramirez
