From what I read online, and heard in a youTube interview with one of the
builders, she was made with red and white cedar.

<http://chittygen11.com/about_chitty.htm>

There is a brief interview with Alan Mann where he describes his
contribution to the design (and build) of the cars used in the movie:

<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2_rX9rw_p0&feature=channel_page>
&feature=channel_page>

Are you looking to build a replica? Has anyone had any luck tracking down
plans or drawings?

Best,

- Jim

The information that I've read said they used red and white cedar.

Looks like it was made of red and white cedar.

Are you building one? Has anyone had success getting plans?

Here's a site for enthusiasts of wood-bodied cars & trucks. Some look like they
were clearly the inspiration for Ken Adam's design for "Chitty Chitty Bang
Bang".

<http://www.oldwoodies.com/gallery-french2skiff.htm>

To answer Tom's earlier question, Chitty's woodwork was made from red & white
cedar.
<http://www.chittygen11.com/about_chitty.htm>

There is a short interview with the designer and one of the builders of Chitty
up on YouTube:

I spotted a 3-View line drawing in a YouTube video. It's in the photo
library area - drawings and plans.

Not exactly blueprint quality, but not too bad.

Working on a cleaned up version which I'll post when done.

Enjoy,

I'm doing some research for a couple of possible projects. The first
being I'd like to build an accurate model of her for the X-Plane
flight simulator (just for fun, non-commercial use).

But I also have a couple of other ideas that I guess I should start by
reaching out to MGM.

If anyoe has any contacts or leads on who I should contact, can you
please let me know?

Thanks!

I emailed MGM to ask if/when CCBB would be available in HD on Blu-Ray.
Their response below makes me wonder if they planning something,
though they just missed the 40th anniversary.

MGM's Response:

Thank you for your email. No date has been announced, but stay tuned!
You can keep abreast of all major MGM product announcements through our
Lion's Roar newsletter. To sign up visit:

Who knows, maybe, as is all-too-common these days, they are planning
to remake the film? (I should hope not).

Though it would be interesting if they made a more faithful version to
Flemming's original book!

- Jim

You Can get Blue Prints for Chitty, but you have to get permission i think to
use it.
Are you thinking about building your own one?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find any drawings,blueprints, or plans
of CCBB?

I know this post is a few years old. But at least one person has made
a flying RC Chitty, though it's not exactly scale. They even have a
downloadable plan for it for free:

<http://www.flyelectric.ukgateway.net/chitti.htm>

There is another fellow on an RC forum who is attempting to make a
more scale version of it. Though I think he is still in the planning
stages:

m.htm>

Enjoy!

Thought eveyone might like to see a photo of my son's Cub Scout
project. It wasn't the first place winner, but it was a respectable
6th place racer. Best in Show trophy was won without much trouble!
Photo posted in the photo section.

None that I know of, I have wanted to build a replica of the 1906
speedster version of CCBB but I cant find any info. I remember reading
that Tony was able to get the plans that MGM had for CCBB to build his
car. I guess if you could find an old American LaFrance speedster with
the 14L 6 you could make your own hood, cowling and other parts to look
like CCBB, that is my plan but making all the parts so it will use the
LaFrance mounts, so it could be switched back to stock. I had the
chance to work on a 24 LaFrance fire truck, I love them and when I have
the money I will own one.... some day

Yahoo! Groups photos will NOT be affected by the closure of Yahoo!
Photos on September 20th. Yahoo! Groups photos will continue to work
as they do today.

Hello "Unsinkable Rob",
  I see that on 9/20 Yahoo is closing its photo hosting option. What
does that mean for those of us with photos here? Are you moving them
all to a new host?

So was the winner some Baron (or mobster) who just had to have it?
