Bernard has appeared as King Théoden in Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and as Captain Smith in "Titanic".

His other films include "Gothika", "The Scorpion King", "The Bounty", "The Ghost and the Darkness", the BBC mini-series "I, Claudius", "Boys from the Blackstuff" on UK TV, and many many more.
