Here is a paragraph I found about the killing on the Paul Ryan website for ATWT.
It tells the verdict if that's what you wanted to know.
 
Also here is the url if you want to check out the website. Paul's birth was
moved back to 1971 from 1977 so he could be 15 years old in 1986 when Andy
started playing him. Paul was quite a character - he has a ton of crimes listed
and a lot of presumed dead situations.

Years later, James miraculously resurfaced. Now a teenager, Paul was determined
to get to know his father and refused to tell anyone, except for his best
friend, Andy Dixon, that he'd been in contact with him. Paul refused to believe

Paul's eyes were finally opened when he saw his father try to kill John Dixon.
Desperate to save the life of his best friend's father, Paul told James he'd go
with him anywhere. Not long after, James perished in a fire. Or so everyone
thought. Not long after, Paul, in NYC for his mother's fashion show, received a
summons from his father to meet him. However, one of Barbara's employees, a gay
man named Hank (who Paul had been very rude and bigoted toward), was concerned
and followed Paul to the rendezvous, at a pier in Staten Island. Hank was shot
by James as he was trying to take off with Paul. It was at this point that the
police arrived and James's
  helicopter was shot down. The truth about his father finally dawning on him,
Paul apologized to Hank for his past behavior. Later, Paul got a summer job
working for the slightly older Emily Stewart, to his mother's great annoyance,
and he and Emily became close. At the time, Emily was dating a mobster named
Brock Lombard and after one of Emily and Brock's big blow-ups Paul came over and
found her inconsolable. His comfort led to a kiss ... and another ... until
Emily took Paul's virginity. After that, a lovesick Paul started sending Emily
flowers and romantic notes, but she told him that what they had was a one-night
stand and resumed her affair with Brock. Not long after, James was found alive
again! Having been stalking Emily (his former mistress) and Paul for months, an
enraged James confronted Emily and attacked her. Luckily for her, Paul arrived.
Seeing what was happening, he grabbed a gun (a gun was given to Emily from
Brock) and shot his father
  to save Emily. Jessica Griffin defended Paul at the trial, where he testified
that he and Emily were lovers. After he was found not guilty, Paul officially
changed his last name to Ryan and dropped out of school to "find himself."

Might that be because the episode drops? Oh the editing Gods created
drama and hung the veridict until the next day (which in all probability
until Monday due to Thanksgiving and Football games). I wasn't an ATWT
viewer, can't help with the verdict.

My good friend Heather reminded me, earlier of Andy's emmy and how she recalled
him on stage, while accepting it. Charming, funny, composed...while playing the
audience and enjoying the screams...sigh...
 
Our conversation prompted a search, by me,  to find footage...not entirely
successful, but I now have 4 juicy URLs to share...the last one, a montage of
emmy winners, if you don't blink, you'll see him :o)

Hi everyone~ I remember watching Andrew on ATWT. I was reading a message
board for the show. It was mention that another former ATWT actor is going to be
on an upcoming episode of CM. Someone mention that Andrew was just on it. They
don't watch it, but they saw a blurb in the paper. Here is what it said:I saw
this in the paper this morning:Get-tough policy. Tuned into Criminal Minds
this week to catch the introduction of Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, an FBI
profiler carrying some cumbersome baggage.Who should turn up as the episode's
creepy
killer but a grown-up Andrew Kavovit, who delivered such excellent work while
still a teenager on the CBS soap As the World Turns.

I did too. Told them I was a regular watcher but hadn't watched this season
because of the major changes and I was leery. Said I watched the Oct 31st
episode because Andrew Kavovit was on and found I still liked the show so
would again become a regular viewer.

Also said I watch anything Andrew Kavovit was in - then made a statement
about how good guest stars with a following could encourage people to try
new shows or revitalize their interest in old shows.

Hope it helps and CBS realizes he is a guest star that will bring viewers to
their shows.

"new guy joining the team" scenes. However, "Criminal Minds" did win the
ratings  for the night and really won it's time slot so hopefully the exposure
will
lead  to bigger roles. The site for feedback is
