Guys

After the recent completion of a platoon of 15mm Critical Mass Game walkers I
felt inspired to see how they would do in a Stop-Motion movie up against some
GZG vehicles :) Here's one for your entertainment :)

Hello All, My sons and I played the clix version of Battletech "Mechwarrior"
while it was actively supported. My youngest son and I still play occasionally
(once a month). We are wondering if there is a comprehensive collector's check
list out there in cyberspace? We would like to know if certain factions ever got
particular units. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? The Wizkids site
is shut down and you can't even access the technical readouts section anymore.
Help me please!

Hello All,
It is that time of year again. Tanks Giving is a day long (11:00 A.M.
until...) gaming event at Comics, Games and Books at 1650 Gordon Highway in
Augusta, Georgia. This year it will be held on 21 November. In conjunction with
Tanks Giving the CSRA Gamers Association is holding a fund raiser for Siege of
Augusta called "Tacos in a Bag". $5.00 will get you a 5 ounce bag of either
Doritos or Fritos, a drink (water or Soda), home made chili (made by my wife)
and a sample of her brownies. There will fixin's for the chili as well. There
will be all kinds of Tank/Armor games played including but not limited to;
Warhammer 40K, Dirtside 2 Grav Armor (hosted by Mike Baker), possibly Flames of
War and I will bring my Ogre/GEV minis with me (don't know if they will get used
as I want to try Grav Armor). Come have lunch with us, give thanks for our
blessings and play tank games till you pass out!

                      Respectfully,
                     Norman Schwartz

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your comments.

Yes, they are flattened ovals, or egg shapes, which I believe provide for the
best, and strongest overall protection, as far as ballistics defense goes, while
also being very efficient designs for moving through an atmosphere.

They are as large as, or larger than most 15mm scale Sci-Fi Grav Tank models on
the market, so are a good compromise between form and functionality. As an
example, our Heavy Grav Tank is about the same length as the GZG High-Tech and
Advanced Heavy Grav Tank models, but is 35% wider, and 50% wider respectively,
than the GZG vehicles. Heights of the vehicles are similar, give, or take a
millimeter, or two.

Fusion powerplants are quite small, and efficient at this tech level, so don't
take up a lot of room.

Seats for the crew are reclined, like in 21st century jet fighters, in order to
help them maintain consciousness while dropping to the planet's surface from
orbit at high speeds, and to permit a thinner profile, so they are harder to
hit.

I agree that the Traveller Trepida design is quite nice as well, but we will not
be producing those, since I imagine the cost to secure a license to do so would
be cost-prohibitive.

I would love to see some of those as well, but I'm not sure it is financially
feasible to do.

I will be posting more photos of them, as we get closer to production release.
You can see a fairly decent side-on view of the models in the Photos section of
this site, under Topgun Marketing Products.

The view shows the profiles of the vehicles fairly well, from an upper-side
view.

The prototypes are currently being made ready to create master, and production
molds, so I don't have access to them, in order to take more photos.

We hope to have them available for sale in a couple of weeks.

Best regards,

Rob

I think these tanks are very cool and represent very 'traveller-esque' designs.
Holding with that thought, I would like to see these designs become even more so
- not exact, but closer and then I will lay out all kinds of money to create a
company of them. Here is an example:

http://traveller.wikia.com/wiki/File:Trepida.jpg

A little less ovular and more triangular in shape maybe. From the photos that I
have seen so far of the tanks you have created, they are somewhat 'disc' like in
terms that the hull is more like two saucers put together leaving no room for
the mechanical and/or electronic parts to make the vehicle function.

Do you have a few photos of the vehicles from a profile view as well?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi everyone,

These have sadly been MIA in the latest releases of 15mm minis, so I inquired
about that, and it appears that Jon of GZG will at least consider producing them
for us, if there is enough interest from you, the Sci-Fi gaming public.

See here for a pic, for inspiration on what they might look like when deployed
in a large city:

http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Gallery/images/2/1_Marines.jpg

Of course, in more open terrain, after their initial drop, they will most likely
fly at a much lower height, e.g. tree-top/NOE levels, in order to avoid enemy
detection and defensive fire.

Their mobility of 120 MPH/200 KPH permits them to quickly attack critical enemy
defensive positions, while avoiding many others. Normal infantry that move at
about 5 MPH, except in short dashes, don't have a chance against these elite
troops.

Under discussion currently are UNSC and New Israeli troops to be created as
Drop/Jump Troopers. I would also like to see their Light and Heavy Vacc Suit
Troops, and their NSL range given jump packs too. It might also be possible to
just produce the backpacks, so they can be attached to any of your troops, if
desired, in order to permit their flight.

See here for more info/discussion on the subject:

http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=178212

Alternatively, you can contact Jon directly, to let him know what you would like
to see produced, and how many you are willing to purchase:

Please let Jon know what you would like to see, as soon as possible, so we can
get these into production soon.

Thanks for listening.

Has anyone seen the new Terminator Salvation miniatures by playmates? I found them in a local dollar discount store. They come in 2-packs (4 different available),are about 2 1/2" high, plastic, and some moveable limbs. (No, these are not the 3.5" action figures.) I'm guessing them to be about 54mm-60mm to the eyes. 1 pack has a T-600 and T-700 (probalby the most useful pack), another has a T-600 and a human, another has a T-700 (battle damaged) and a human, and the last has John Conner and a T-700 (battle damaged).

I'm thinking they would be a good fit for the Hunter Killer Vehicle and etc. I think finding acceptable Human figures to battle these miniatures may be a little bit more challenging. Anyone have some ideas?

I was thinking that perhaps some of the 1/32 scale figures and vehicles out there might be a good fit, and even some of the 'cheap' plastic army men might work. I'll keep you posted.

Hello All, It is that time of year again. We starting the ramp-up for Siege of
Augusta XIX. The dates are 22, 23, and 24 January, 2010. As of February of this
year Siege is financially independant of HMGS Mid-South. Everyone was great in
supporting Siege last year. This year it will be doubly important if Siege is to
survive, grow and thrive. Any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated.
We have enough funds on hand (barely) to make Siege happen. This is the one
convention that many of us can get to every year... so lets makke it bigger and
better. We need vendors and game hosts. The website will be updated tomorrow.
After tomorrow you will be able to download the updated registration forms. I
will keep you posted on progress.

                     Respectfully,
                      Norman Schwartz
                      Director, SOA XIX

Yep its all going to be on one playing board - the Bridge will be a second floor room and the Engine room will be 2 floors well a ground floor with a balcony. There will be the compulsory corridors of course.

That sounds like it is going to be very cool. How will you lay it out? Will you have linking sections?

If anyone is gaming in the future with 28mm Terminator figures, The "Hunter
Killer" ship toy, from the movie "The Terminator", was just put on sale at my
local Target Store. It was marked down from the $19.98 to $13.98. I picked one
up because I'll find a use for it somewhere with any futuristic 28mm game.
