Threads over at the Mandalorian Mercs have good ideas for scrathbuilt Mando
armor costuming.  I've seen some pretty nice-looking boot ideas.

I'm still here too.  Been slowly upgrading my costume over the past several years.  I've been keeping most of it in boxes too, so it's been holding up pretty well.  Bought the MR helmet a few years ago, but haven't gotten around to making any mods to it.  Will probably need some help with that. Also need a pair of boots; I don't like the CA Boots and would prefer something more homemade and better looking.  If anyone knows someone in the DC area who does good work on homemade BF or trooper costumes, let me know!  :)

I´m here too, and my costume is far from finished... I think six or seven years ago I has put all the pieces in a box and still they are there. Next year I´ll start working again on it. I was too ambitious and the chest armour, helmet, knee armour, arms, etc are all in cast aluminium, they are really great, but slow and expensive... I just about have my helmet where I want it, but I'm creating a custom Mando.  I
gave what I had done thus far a trial run during Halloween, but ended up coming
home with less armor plates than I left with LOL  Still a lot to learn and
finish.

Yeah, the more battle damage, the better...especially since it's even more
authentic than purposely weathering it.

Just testing. If anyone is still around I thought I'd drop a line. Many moons
ago I put together my scratch built Boba Fett costume. At the time it looked
great, but I've been overtaken by the quality of vacuformed suits since that
time.

So at the weekend I dug out the old boy from the loft to show my five year
old.... when I built and last wore it I didn't have any kids....

... it was a mess. Painting flaked off, plastic bits smashed and bent, it was
sad. I nearly through the whole thing in the bin it looked so bad. But having
thought about it, maybe looking bashed and worn is a good thing for it. Patch it
up, respray it and become a unique merc mandalorian. Why not. I don't think I'll
ever wear it as a Boba Fett any more but I think it may have a few more years as
a scratch built battle worn mandalorian warrior.

I plan to put up some photos on the web site just so every one can see the
lifecycle of my backpack and gear.

I haven't run into any problems--people have been quite helpful there
and at Mercs.  It's fun--it's a hobby for the majority of us, but it
would be pretty cool to make a living out of doing something like
prop making--I envy you ;)
