FOR BUFFS OF HAROLD LLOYD (1893-1971) Harold Lloyd's career spanned 34 years and over 200 comedies. Among his most famous films are Grandma's Boy (1922), Safety Last! (1923), The Freshman (1925), The Kid Brother (1927), Speedy (1928), and Movie Crazy (1932). Said Robert Osborne of TCM fame: "Of all the jesters, buffoons, clowns and funny men who swept across the silent screen, and there were hundreds of them, only three were considered to tower above the rest: Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. Hundreds of others were candidates to be included in that august company, but none quite made the grade. Chaplin, Keaton and Lloyd - like the Three Tenors - have always been The Big Three of silent comedy, the yardsticks by which all other silent screen comedians have been judged." Chaplin and Keaton already have their own yahoo groups, this one is for Lloyd! The discussion here is not limited to just Harold Lloyd, but can include anything related to him. Possible topics might include discussions of his films or their availability, production notes, memorabilia, books, for sale items, etc. Other topics might include discussions about Mildred Davis, Jobyna Rolston, Bebe Daniels, Snub Pollard, Bud Jamison, Noah Young, Charles Stevenson, Mickey Daniels, Gus Leonard, Leo Willis, Constantine Romanoff, Johan Aasen, Brooks Benedict, Charles Middleton, Hal Roach, Fred Newmeyer, Sam Taylor, Ted Wilde, Walter Lundin, Clyde Bruckman, The HL Trust, Suzanne Lloyd, Jeffrey Vance, Kevin Brownlow, Robert Israel, Carl Davis, Turner Classic Movies, Leonard Maltin, etc. We are pretty loose with what can be posted.
