Hello Barbara and David,
I have created a new album, entitled 'Excalibur - Miscellaneous', in which I
gathered a few tidbits I found while roaming the Net.
I have also posted a new link from an existing site, that has scans of pages
from a Japanese magazine on the film. What's interesting is that you can clearly
see two stills there (I have included the two scans showing those stills in the
'Miscellaneous' album), from a scene cut from it where Morgana gives Gawain
sexual favours. If there are stills from that scene, it was definitely filmed
but ultimately cut from the final version.
Enjoy my friends,
Pedro;)
Hi gang!
I have just added a few more scans to the "John Boorman's 'Excalibur'" album.
Enjoy,
Pedro;)
PS: It looks like Bryan Synger's produced remake is set for a 2012 release.
Thank you for posting this Pedro. I doubt very much that this will live up to the original. However, as I am an Arthurian "NUT" I look forward to this movie, Thinking on this, They could still use Nigel Terry as the older Athur. The last time I saw him was in one of the New Dr Who series, I only realised that it was him, when I heard the voice. He would still be perfect for the part. At last another Arthurian movie to look forward to. David

I just caught it while surfing the Net:
"Warner Bros. and Bryan Singer are unsheathing "Excalibur," redoing the 1981 John Boorman movie about King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable.
The project is still in the early stages, with Warners only tying up the remake rights, which it shares with Boorman. Singer's involvement is still in the talking stage and Legendary Pictures may come aboard the project."
Read further here from the Hollywood Reporter site:
I do not think this is a good idea as Boorman's original film is a masterpiece in my opinion, and a remake would only spoil and denigrate it, even with the talented Singer behind it.
What do you think?
Cheers,

Greetings Barbara and David,
I recently joined Ebay UK and started searching for old magazines that included
coverage on 'Excalibur'. I only managed to find and obtain two of those, both
from 1981, and I scanned a few pictures which I've now added here.
In the meantime, I'll keep searching for any other mags featuring articles on
the film that I may find on Ebay. I also saw a few sets of 'Excalibur' lobby
cards there, only they were quite expensive, but I'll keep an eye on those in
the future.
Take care for now,
Pedro;)
Thank you so much, Barbara, I could guess you'd like them, lol!
All the best to you,
Pedro;)

I was casually searching the web for pictures of another one of what I call my 'guilty pleasures', "Conan the Barbarian" (1982) - a

I located them at the 'Celebutopia' forum, which is a site for high quality celebrity images and news. This particular collection of pictures from "Excalibur" was posted by a person nicknamed 'chaplin'(whom I credit in the description

I liked them so much that I had to include them here. I hope you like the collection.

Regarding Nigel Terry, I haven't seen the episode of "Dr. Who" you
mentioned, but I do recall having watched him a few years back in an
episode of the "Highlander" TV series, where I was surprised to see
him looking old, with white hair and everything.
Best wishes,

It was my pleasure, Barbara! You know, I bought that cassette
of 'Excalibur' back in 2001, through Amazon UK, but I think it's out
of print these days. Anyway, I'm still waiting for the special
edition on DVD to come along and then I will upgrade, and put this
cassette permanently on the 'museum archives', lol.

Hello Barbara and David,
I recently bought the new 'Deliverance' deluxe edition dvd, and it's
quite good. The print is terrific and the extras are great as well. We
get a 4 part documentary on the making of the film, where John Boorman
and all the principal actors, Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty and
Ronny cox, are interviewed, an original 1972 featurette and the
trailer.
The whole dvd is superb, I recommend it very highly, and my point with
all of this is that Warner Bros., who owns and distributes 'Excalibur',
should give the same treatment to our favourite film. And they should
hurry because Boorman isn't getting any younger (he's 75, right?), and
take advantage of the fact that most of the cast is still alive -
except for Nicholas Clay and Robert Addie, that passed away prematurely.
All the best to you,
Pedro;)
Wow, you're absolutely right, Barbara! I've taken a closer look and
Morgana is indeed side by side with Guenevere and Igrayne - I hadn't
noticed it before!
As for the masked soldiers, there is one brief tracking shot of one
(which happens to be the one you can also glimpse in the trailer I
mentioned previously and of which posted the link here) during the
final battle in the fog, where the camera passes through a line of
Mordred's warriors.
The frozen knight's corpse is the one you referred, and I kept that
pic as part of the scan because it was mentioned in the legend that
described the masked soldiers.
David, I'll have to watch the film again because I can't recall the
name castle Tintagle being spoken by any of the characters throughout
the story. But I'll tell you this: I'll only purchase the DVD if and
when they come out with a special edition filled with extras, as they
did last year with John Boorman's "Deliverance", in it's deluxe 35th.
anniversary edition. The 25th. anniversary of "Excalibur" has come
and gone in 2006, so who knows if it'll happen in 2011 for the 30th.
anniversary of its release? Keep your fingers crossed!
Take care,
Pedro;)

The ancient knight who died during the search for the grail is the scene
where Percival wanders up a snowy top, absolutely freezing, and he
discovers the knight is dead. Then he drops to his feet and says,
"We will never find it!"

I thouht that the battle where Uther (Arthurs Father) Rode ove the mists to ravish Igraine was the one named Tintagel. I could be wrong....But now I have another excuse to watch the movie....I only have it on video, I am going to have to get myself the DVD.
Take care

Thank you Pedro for posing the link...I have got to look at it again to see the bits mentioned, You have also given me thurge to go through my old vids to see it again. I also find the music so hypnotic.
One day someone may even bring a good Arthurian movie out again....Excalibur has never been equaled.

You're most welcome, Barbara! It's a terrific trailer and I also love that music, which I think is entitled 'Carmina Burana', by
Carl Orff (it just sounds fantastic, and it fits so well in the film!). If you watch closely, around 30/31 seconds into the trailer there's a very brief image of someone looking like an ugly dwarf turning his head to his left - that's the one I was mentioning, calling him a troll, but it's more like a weird dwarf and he's most definitely one of Mordred's soldiers wearing a mask. Also there's an alternate sequence of Merlin addressing Morgana and saying "look into the eyes of the Dragon and despair...", where his voice is louder. And look for another alternate bit of Igrayne being dominated by Uther disguising as her husband Cornwall. Enjoy and I'm so glad you liked it.
